These are just a few server commands to help users who are new to an IRC server, for using the services
like NickServ, ChanServ and MemoServ. But after you're on the server, you can type in commands for each
to get a list of all the available commands.
For example, /nickserv help or, specific help for one command, like /nickserv help register.
WARNING - Do not forget any passwords you use.
Entering a wrong password for any of the services, more than once, services will boot you for an hour.
You have the first 2 tries to remember your password, and that's it.
NickServ
The first thing you're going to do when you log on to the server is register your nickname with NickServ.
It is fairly simple, by typing /nickserv register password email
Once you register with the nickname you are logged on with, it's yours and nobody else will be able to use it.
When you login after that, you will be prompted each time to identify yourself, or your nick is changed to guest.
You will have 60 seconds to type /nickserv identify password
ChanServ
If you have desires to start your own channel, all you need to do is join a channel that doesn't exist yet.
Example: type /join #MyChannelName
If that channel is already registered, it won't let you do anything with it, but if it's a brand new channel,
ChanServ will temporarily set your mode to +o (channel-operator). But to keep this channel as your own,
you need to register it by simply typing, /chanserv register #channelname description
From that point on, if any user joins the channel, when you're not around, ChanServ will set their mode -o and not let them do anything with it, because it's already registered to you. You have full control over it.
Type /chanserv help for a list of options, inculding setting a channel greeting or topic.
*NOTE: Users are limited to 5 channels.
MemoServ
MemoServ is a service you can use to send and receive memo messages with other users on the server.
To send a message, just type /memoserv send nickname message
Even if that person is not online, they will see a notification when they log back on that they have a new memo.
To read your memo's just type /memoserv read all
That command will display all new memos sent to you, but if you have many unread, you can always specify
by number. To learn more about commands, just type /memoserv help
BotServ
BotServ is a service you can use to help manage your channel.
Just type /BotServ Help to see a list of commands
