Server Policies in place for the ChatNET IRC Server
Server Policies in place for the ChatNET IRC Server
If you're a down-to-earth person who loves to smile, laugh and have fun, while relaxing on a server
that strives to form an IRC community full of humans and not professional robots, you're in the right place.
We want everyone to feel welcome here and, without having to walk on eggshells or look over your
shoulder for a controlling server-op with an ego bigger than their server.
Obviously, we have to keep an eye out for troublemakers that can be a hazard to the server and it's
security, as well as supporting the enjoyment of the server community as a whole. If we run into a
user that's running around different channels and wreaking havoc, we will take global action on it.
If we become aware of any channels that are created for intentional illegal activities, we will pay them a
visit, but as far the individual channels created by innocent users, we have no need to snoop on them, like a
landlord thinking he can drop in on a tenant, anytime he feels like it.
Any user that creates their own registered channel, it's like your own home and you decide how you want
people to behave in your home. You have full control over it to decide whether you want someone visiting or not.
With the use of ChanServ, you can kick them out or ban them, as you see fit and server ops will not interfere with
your decisions. As a matter of fact, under normal conditions, none of the server admins will ever visit your channel
unannounced, unless you ask us to. Your peace of mind will be respected that way.
I would encourage all channel operators, if your channel involves adult orientated conversations, such as language, etc, please try and let newcomers know this when they join, so they know what they are getting into. Kind of like a movie that starts out with "Viewer discretion is advised" hahaha
Channel owners have the right to choose their own topic, so if a user disagrees with it, they have the option to
walk away and not be a part of that channel. BUT, as long as your channel is NOT there to spread unlawful hate, racism, or incite violence. If we see a channel name or topic that sends up red flags, we will address the issue and make changes if necessary. Our server will be mindful of the laws, first and foremost.
The ChatNET IRC server is here for enjoyment. We hope a community can form, that is on the same page.
